Guide:   Welcome to Amersham House. I’m your guide and I’d like to tell you something about the tour. It will last 45 minutes. There is then a 20-minute talk about the history of the house. It’s a beautiful day, so this will be in the garden next to the lake. After the talk, you may want to go to the café. You can buy hot and cold drinks there, and also sandwiches and cakes. You will find postcards, books and souvenirs in the gift shop. It closes at five o’clock and you will probably need 20 or 30 minutes there. You can see from the map all the sites with names and specific information. Visitors must stay in the public areas.

There is a lot to see at Amersham House and you may want to come back again. There is a special offer in August. Tickets are usually £5 for students, but they will only be £3.50. Now, let’s begin the tour.

Ben:   I am. It’s a great opportunity. I am not sure I would make it to the final selection, but I love writing stories so I am happy to do it. So, which street in London?

Megan:   It’s at 10 King’s Street. Go down Green Road and turn left into Jessie Street and King’s Street is on the left.

Ben:   What can you win?

Megan:   This month, it’s a trip to Canada for you and your family. You get two weeks in a hotel and one week travelling around the Rocky Mountains.

Ben:   Wow! Pass me a pen!

Man:   Now, I’m going to take you to the most historical part of the castle. This part dates back to the year 984 when there was a wooden castle here, it was only in 1392 that a stone castle was built. You’ll see that the stone blocks are quite big. We think they were transported here by boat.
