Dear Sir/Madam,

I saw the advertisement for volunteers to work as forest rangers and I would like to apply.

I am a student of environment science in Milan and I have travelled to the UK many times, so my language skills are very strong. I am also a friendly and sociable person who enjoys working with people.

As a student, I am in an excellent position to explain the beauty of the forest to visitors and protect the forest from damage. I strongly believe that forests are essential for the world to survive and it is the work of rangers to make people aware of this.

In our studies we have field trips to forests to study their natural beauty. I also spend a lot of my free time outdoors exploring. I am sure this knowledge and enthusiasm would help me in this position.

I am confident that I can be an important part of your team. I am reliable and hardworking, so this challenge is ideal for me. When I finish university, I would like to work in this field, so this is a wonderful opportunity.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Carla Rossini

Suggested answer

Dear Sir/Madam,

I read your advertisement on the Internet and I would like to apply to be a volunteer in the Winter Olympics.

I am a student of economics in Granada. I am a good communicator and speak several languages: my native language is Spanish, I know English to B2 level and B1 French. In addition, I am friendly and hardworking and love new challenges.

As someone very interested in sport myself – I am a keen skier and snowboarder – I believe that I am in an excellent position to help athletes and visitors with any problems they have. I am flexible and ready to take on any task. I have never been a volunteer before but I would be more than happy to give up my free time.

Every four years I watch the Winter Olympics on TV and it has always been my dream to attend and help in this amazing event. I strongly believe that sport brings people together and the Olympics are very important. Volunteers are an essential part of the Olympics and I am sure that I can make a valuable contribution.

Thank you for considering my application. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
