Sonya: Well, Martin, there are six children altogether and I’m twenty and the oldest.
Martin: Wow! I know Vivienne, of course. She had her fifteenth birthday last month, didn’t she?
Sonya: That was Sally. Vivienne looks older but she’s two years younger – but you mustn’t say I told you she’s only thirteen!
Martin: Of course I won’t. Well, my little sister’s seven …
Sonya: … and she plays with my brother Roger.
Martin: So they must be the same age.
Sonya: They are. Then there’s my other little brother, Frank.
Martin: And how old is he?
Sonya: He’s two years younger than Roger.
Martin: So he’s only five. There must be someone else.
Sonya: … Oh, Deborah! I nearly forgot.
Martin: Isn’t she eighteen and starting at college in September?
Sonya: Yes, she’s going to study medicine. She’s wanted to do that since she was ten.

Woman: I’d like some information about the mountain park. I’ve got seven days’ holiday next month.
Man: Yes, certainly.
Woman: First, I’d like to book somewhere to stay.
Man: I’m afraid there’s nothing in the park, just a small café, that’s all. The nearest guest-house is in a village a few kilometres away.
Woman: Has the village got somewhere to swim or a cinema?
Man: It’s very quiet. There’s just a small supermarket that sells food.
Woman: I don’t mind that. Can I take my car to the park?
Man: Yes. But you must leave it at the entrance with the other cars and buses. Visitors must walk through the park.
Woman: And how much does it cost to go in?
Man: From Mondays to Fridays everyone pays twelve dollars, but at weekends it’s thirteen dollars for children and sixteen dollars for adults.
Woman: Right. Will I see any animals in the park next month?
Man: I don’t think so. But it’s the best time to go! There won’t be any snow and the flowers will be beautiful.
