1 Where is the photograph now?
Man: Where’s our photograph gone?
Woman: I put it on the wall next to the window. It didn’t look good where you put it above the cupboard.
Man: But you can’t see it by the window. Shall I put it next to the phone?
Woman: It’ll fall off there. Let’s leave it where it is.
Man: OK then.
2 When can Suzy come to dinner?
Diane: Hello, Suzy. It’s Diane. I’m just calling to see if you’re free for dinner next Saturday, the ninth, or the Saturday after, the sixteenth.
Suzy: The ninth is fine. We’re away from the sixteenth until the twenty-third.
Diane: So, next weekend then.
Suzy: Yes, that will be lovely. What time …
3 Where did Jane go on holiday?
Boy: Did you go camping again this year, Jane?
Jane: Our tent is too old so we stayed with my Aunt Vera. She lives in an apartment by the beach. I don’t like swimming but we went walking and horse riding a lot. It was great!
Boy: Doesn’t your aunt live in the mountains?
Jane: She moved last year.
4 What has Maria hurt?
Man: Are you all right, Maria? What’s wrong with your neck?
Maria: Ah, I’ve just fallen over in the snow and I’ve got a terrible pain in my arm, not my neck.
Man: Give me your hand and I’ll help you up.
Maria: OK. Thanks.
5 What time will Clare meet Jack at the station?
Clare: What time will you arrive at the station, Jack? I’ll come and meet you.
Jack: Well, Clare, the train leaves London at half past four.
Clare: So you should be here at quarter to six.
Jack: That’s right. It takes one hour and fifteen minutes.

Man: Hello, Diana. I’ve just got this information about some new evening courses. On Monday evenings, they’ve got some guitar classes.
Diana: I’m busy on Mondays. What can you do on Tuesdays?
Man: Well, there’s a course to teach you how to make easy meals from different parts of the world. The teacher’s Terry Wood. He’s in the restaurant business.
Diana: That sounds good. What about Wednesdays?
Man: That class is about the cinema in Italy and France.
Diana: Oh, I’d like that. Is there a course for you – something on business perhaps?
Man: Well, on Thursdays, there’s one looking at different companies around the world. If you do it, you spend a lot of time on the college computers, which is good.
Diana: Oh.
Man: There’s another interesting course on Friday. You learn about the moon and all the different stars.
Diana: Really? Is there anything on Saturday?
Man: Yes, then you can learn about the lives and work of the world’s greatest painters.
Diana: I think the Wednesday course sounds best.

Girl: That’s good. I’m at the university. Here’s the money and my student card.
Man: Thanks. Here’s your ticket.
Girl: Where can I catch the coach?
Man: In Bridge Street or outside the Grand Hotel, or there’s a stop at the library if you want to wait there.
Girl: Good idea, I’ll do that. What time does it leave?
Man: It leaves Bridge Street at quarter to nine and gets to you at five to nine. It takes ten minutes going through town.

Mrs Jones: That’s good news.
